Alexander Proulx is a Chicago based, self-taught, multi-media artist and designer. You can check him out at Andersonville Galleria, or at venues across Chicago.

Specializing in digital art, sublimation and acrylic paint, Alex draws inspiration from artistic movements such as Pop Art, Street Art, Naive Art, and Impressionism. What draws him to these movements is how each of them explores art as an intuitive experience. In these works and movements there is a rawness- an intimate pursuit of a subject matter as seen by the artist- which he finds relatable. 

“(The artist) often relies not on taught convention and technique, but personal intuition when rendering their subject. In doing so, they inherently ask the viewer to step out of realism and meet them in a shared abstract space in order to relate to the work.” 

A theme that the artist is interested in exploring is how engaging with art, whether as a viewer or creator can help us to relate better to each other.
